A&M Medical Hair Loss Clinics has demonstrated over many decades the need for extensively reviewing new technologies before bringing them fully into our clinic operations. This extensive process was used before we implemented the LaserPro Plus* system.
LaserPro Plus was the design of choice supplied by Image Review Concepts. The choice was made as IRC is based in Australia under a quality management system (QMS) through an ISO13485 process. A&M could see that the device would be the first TGA listed cap available to the market place. The TGA process is under way and we would expect this to occur early in 2018. As the device is designed for a TGA listing this means that the backed end process has been very thorough and the overall design is incredibly robust.
The evolution of Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for hair loss started in the early 1980’s with companies conducting treatment session in a clinic environment, using laser machines ranging from 30 to 80 diodes. By the mid 1990’s laser combs were developed to use at home. Shaped like a hair brush and you slowly moved it across the scalp for 15 to 30 mins every day. These ranged from 1 to 12 diodes.
It was then established that the number of diodes and regular usage was paramount for effective outcomes. In the early 2000’s a team from Harvard University started the design process for a laser device that fulfilled the patient’s needs. Patients wanted a device that had more diodes than a clinic laser and that did not need any manual operation. Over the following years the pilot project had created a device that delivered these outcomes and more.
We have now evolved to a device which has 272 laser diodes, which safely emits the correct output laser energy over the scalp from the comfort of your own home whilst you wear a hat or a baseball cap. The unit is only 5mm thick and is concaved to the shape of your head. You just slide the LaserPro Plus™* unit into a hat or baseball cap, turn it on and then relax. It is now doing all of the work for you.
